26 reviews of Promised Land State Park "Promised Land State Park is in Pike County, 10 miles north of Canadensis, along PA 390. We have been there five years now and have not seen half of the trails yet. I chose poorly, as we learned when we arrived and saw how bad site 208 was. There are many hikes available for different levels which is also nice. We rent many types of boats to enjoy the lake, from canoes and kayaks for leisurely touring, to pontoon boats with tow bars for tubing and water-skiing, to jet skis for an even faster ride.
The park is within a one to three hour drive from Allentown, Easton, Bethlehem, Reading, Harrisburg, Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, and is about 100 miles north of Philadelphia and 35 miles from the New York and New Jersey state borders.
Foster Joseph Sayers Lake, the scenic lake of Bald Eagle State Park, is 1,730 acres with 23 miles of shoreline. Horseback riding on the trails is permitted, but NO horse rental stables nearby.
I could excuse one mistake but the lack of maintenance is ongoing. Permitted trail usage is designated by international symbols. All in all I think we have found a new go to place to camp. Find us on social media. This year, we are going to hike the Bruce Lake trail. There is plenty to do in the area. The town of Promised Land is very run down in contrast to the pristine park. We were charged a 6 dollar reservation fee even if we were walk ins with no reservation. This keeps things quiet, so I'd imagine if you rented a house on the water, you'd really enjoy the serenity. Bright sun shone through gaps in the trees and fried us as we tried to cook. Types of boats include rowboats, canoes, one and two-person kayaks, and paddleboats. Promised Land State Park. I was concerned about this change (we are tent campers), but found that having the RV's keeps the sites occupied during the week, which is actually sort of nice. Not worth for 38 dollars, we got to our site and it wasn't quite level but we managed. Rent a whole home for your next weekend or holiday. I forced hubby to go camping with me.
My husband and I came to Promised Land Lake to canoe. Our cost reflects the addition of the online reservation system fee, which is $15 - the highest we've seen in any state park system after 8 months of travel. Choose from more than 1,000 properties, ideal house rentals for families, groups and couples. The renovations changed all that - brand new flush toilets, dish washing facilities, and hookups for the RV set. This has been a favorite of our family and some others that we know for many years.

Skytop ropes course/ziplines really close. We saw the famous or infamous water snakes although i was scared its was an unforgettable experience. Clean restrooms. Everything is very close to it. It's freaky as hell, and I can't imagine for a second swimming in this lake with all the stuff right beneath the surface.
Love it! Camping sites range from waters edge on the lake to wooded areas.

Not too clean, but if you want a weekend getaway and you're not afraid of spiders and snakes, you might like them. they have a laundromat, they have a dishwashing sink. Most are not pull through but are angled for easy back in. I recommend the funnel cake, which was massive. We hiked around Conservation Island, and it was a nice trail, with plenty of waterside benches.
