Viewers have continually questioned the credibility of former priest (and Cathy's former romantic interest) Gerry Koob. I felt it was a great series, and very well done by Ryan White. Also, keeping in mind that Koob was actively a teacher on the Keough faculty at the time in which Cathy taught there. Obviously this man is not right in his head. I would have liked to have seen his reaction to the letter, maybe i missed it. By the way his wife really seems to be a force to be reckoned with.
Cesnik was believed to have information about alleged sexual abuse about faculty member Father Joseph Maskell, which was supposedly taking place at the high school where she taught drama and English. Koob also had to convince himself that he was certain Cathy had already forgiven her murderer...I believe if he had no involvement he wouldn't be so quick to say that. How could he have been unaware? But at the time of Cesnik's disappearance, he was a Jesuit priest living in Annapolis. I'm sure nobody wants to hear a love letter from their SO's old flame talking about how they want to have his babies. As a lifelong Irish-Catholic who has had a Catholic education all of my life (kindergarten through college) I recognized many of the culture touchstones and the way in which the story was handled really did a good job in revealing the horrors of the abuse and the subsequent stonewalling by the Church. And these reasons, among others, have led some viewers to suspect him in the actual killing.
Finally, why does Koob act like he is hiding something? When they returned, they claimed to have found Cesnik's car abandoned in front of the apartment complex. Would not surprise me if it were true though. Could he have a secret personality that he hid from everybody?

They called in Cesnik's disappearance and, after speaking with police at length, they reportedly decided to go for a walk at 4 a.m. to calm their nerves after the ordeal. pregnancy? The Rev. The letter was a fake that is why it was typed and it also ended up coming out later that the letter was not actually composed by Sister Cathy. Cathy turned down his marriage proposal 2 years before the murder, and it appears their relationship continued. And I agree with you completely. That's a really long time. I think I'm suspicious of Koob, because Nugent is (suspicious). Soppy letters don't mean they were actually in love or it may have been one sided or a bit of a fantasy. I don't think Koob had anything to do with her death. Maskell's death, that Sr. Russell didn't bother to tell what she knew?

He is definitely someone who is capable of faking very well and those who are naive fall right into it. And WTF about her "vagina." It's an odd detail of the case that Phillips turned to the church instead of police when a crime had taken place, and, according to Louis George âBudâ Roemer, a homicide detective on the case, it suggests Koob knew more than he was letting on. It seems like he was really crushed by everything and basically went away for 10 years, eventually marrying a Methodist minister and having two children. Obviously the church is still hiding all this stuff to this day, and maybe he doesn't want to say anything about it at all because he fears for him and his family. He'd know better than anyone how dangerous and hard it would be to go after and/or expose the secrets of the church. Koob is a former priest who has since converted, become a Methodist minister, and gotten married. She told someone (can't remember the name) "Then he took his secrets to the grave"! If he did that then he's truly an idiot because it doesn't help him at all. In fact, prior to her taking her final vows as a nun, he had asked her to marry him. Her granite headstone offers the eye only four stone-carved words: sister catherine cesnik ssnd 1942-1969. I in no way believe that Sister Cathy a WOMAN and NUN wrote that letter. Great post! But it doesn't help or damage him in any way in terms of establishing his guilt or exonerating him. Did he hear the announcements for certain girls to be sent to Maskell too? Also in that last letter to Koob what is she talking about when she says something about understanding the troubles he's been having lately?
