I think the new energy is nice, you’ve got a new character from a totally different background and he’s very much part of the new modern way of culture that was coming to Britain at that time. I play an investigative journalist for The Herald newspaper, which is similar to The Guardian in terms of politics and size.
How would you describe the new series of Grantchester?

There’s a lot of animosity and heated confrontations. Will’s got a different take on things, he’s got a different way of dealing with things, he’s more of a modern man and I think the show needed that.
